You might find something not made in a looong time--a family heirloom or piece of "old school" craftsmanship that was unique in it's day--let alone in today's world. Pawn shops are much like ThiftStores..they must be visited often as stuff comes & goes quickly--that being said you may or may not find everything mentioned in this site on a particular day...
Collateral Loans
Besides selling items, Cashbox Jewelry & Pawn may also loan
money on the items
you
own. A pawn is a short term loan
designed to give an individual an influx of cash based on the wholesale
value of an item. In general terms, here is how it works ..... First it's determined if the pawnbroker wants to loan on the
item..if so, value is determined. The item is kept by the pawnbroker for the duration of the loan period and the person
pawning the item gets the loaned cash. Upon maturity, the person who
pawned the item either comes in and repays the loan
with a pre-determined amount of interest, or forfeits the item. If the
item is not claimed the pawnbroker puts it out for sale at fair market
price to
recoup the original loan with a fair markup. Many people prefer to
borrow against items they already own as opposed to
"payday loans" which are NOT secured by collateral.
